InkTrace — Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the InkTrace browser extension (“InkTrace”, “we”, “us”)
treats personal and sensitive user data when you use it. InkTrace is published by the Taixu project
(taixu.app). If anything here conflicts with the Chrome Web Store edition you installed,
the behavior of that build (no remote analytics or server-side analysis to our infrastructure) is what applies.
This document explains user data collection, user data handling, user data storage, and user data sharing for InkTrace.
The numbered sections below correspond to those four topics.
User data collection
We do not operate a backend that collects account profiles, contact lists, or browsing history for advertising.
To provide writing-process analysis on Google Docs, the extension accesses:
- Google Docs revision history for the active document — retrieved using your existing Google session from Google’s servers. This may include document text and edit metadata needed to replay the writing process.
- Document title — read so it can be shown in the analysis UI.
- Technical context — the extension uses Chrome extension APIs (for example
activeTab, tabs) to know when you are on a Google Docs document page and to open the analysis tab.
Chrome Web Store build: We do not send your document contents or revision payloads to servers operated by Taixu for processing or logging.
Analysis runs locally in your browser.
Separate “full” distribution (not from the Chrome Web Store): A non-Store build may offer optional server-assisted analysis.
That feature is disabled in the Store build. If you use such a build, any transmission is limited to what that feature requires and is described in its in-product disclosure.
User data handling
Data accessed from Google Docs is used only to:
- Replay revisions and compute writing-process indicators (for example timing, paste-related signals, and related statistics) on your device.
- Display results and export reports (for example PDF) on your device, according to the actions you take in the extension.
We do not use this data for automated decision-making about you, credit scoring, or employment. We do not build cross-site profiles of users.
User data storage
The extension stores only your language preference (Chinese / English) in the browser’s
localStorage under a key specific to InkTrace. No document body, revision blobs, or student names are persisted by us in that storage.
While you use the analysis view, document-related data may exist temporarily in memory. Closing the analysis tab or your browser clears that session state from the extension’s perspective; Google continues to store your document under your Google account according to Google’s own terms.
Retention: The language preference remains until you remove it (for example by clearing site data for the extension pages or uninstalling the extension).
User data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share document content or revision history with data brokers.
Google: Revision data is obtained from Google’s services using your Google account; Google’s privacy policy and terms govern data held by Google.
Legal: We may disclose information if required by applicable law or a valid legal process, and only to the extent we are legally compelled.

The Chrome Web Store package does not request network access to taixu.app for core analysis.
Your choices and rights
You can stop using the extension, remove it from Chrome, or clear stored preferences via your browser’s settings.
Because we do not maintain per-user accounts on our servers for the Store build, there is no separate “account deletion” flow on our side for extension usage data — we do not hold that data centrally.
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or object to processing of personal data. Contact us using the details below; we will respond in line with applicable law.
Children
InkTrace is intended for educators and related workflows. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children for commercial purposes through this extension.
International processing
Google Docs data is processed on Google’s infrastructure according to your Google account. Our publicly hosted policy pages may be served from global edge locations when you open taixu.app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.

使用者資料蒐集（User data collection）
我們不會為廣告目的蒐集帳號、聯絡人或一般瀏覽紀錄後端資料庫。
為在 Google 文件上提供寫作過程分析，擴充功能會存取：
- Google 文件修訂歷史（目前文件）— 透過您已登入的 Google 工作階段自 Google 伺服器取得，可能包含重播所需的文件內文與編輯中繼資料。
- 文件標題 — 僅供分析介面顯示。
- 技術情境 — 使用 Chrome 擴充功能 API（例如
activeTab、tabs）以判斷您是否於 Google 文件頁面，並開啟分析分頁。
Chrome 線上應用程式商店版本：我們不會將您的文件內容或修訂資料傳送至 Taixu 營運的伺服器進行處理或記錄；分析於您的瀏覽器本機完成。

使用者資料處理與使用（User data handling）
自 Google 文件取得的資料僅用於：

- 依您在擴充功能中的操作，在您的裝置上顯示結果或匯出報告（例如 PDF）。
我們不將該資料用於對您的自動化決策、徵信或僱傭判斷，亦不建立跨站使用者畫像。
使用者資料儲存（User data storage）
擴充功能僅將您的介面語言偏好（中文／英文）存於瀏覽器 localStorage（InkTrace 專用鍵）。我們不在該儲存空間保存文件本文、修訂封包或學生姓名。
使用分析檢視時，與文件相關的資料可能暫存於記憶體；關閉分析分頁或瀏覽器後，就擴充功能而言該工作階段狀態即結束；您的文件仍依 Google 條款保存在 Google 帳戶中。
保存期間：語言偏好將保留至您清除相關網站資料或解除安裝擴充功能為止。
使用者資料共享（User data sharing）
我們不會出售、出租或交易您的個人資料，亦不會向資料仲介分享文件內容或修訂歷史。
Google：修訂資料透過您的 Google 帳戶自 Google 服務取得；Google 所持有之資料適用 Google 的隱私權政策與服務條款。
法律要求：若適用法律或合法程序要求，我們僅在法律強制範圍內揭露必要資訊。
擴充功能權限（Chrome）

兒童
本擴充功能主要供教育工作者使用，並非以 13 歲以下兒童為對象；我們不會透過本擴充功能故意蒐集兒童個資作商業用途。
跨境與基礎設施
Google 文件資料依您的 Google 帳戶於 Google 基礎設施處理。您瀏覽 taixu.app 上的說明與本政策頁面時，內容可能由全球邊緣節點提供。
政策變更
我們可能更新本政策；更新時將調整上方「最後更新」日期。變更後若您繼續使用，即視為接受更新後之政策。
